| Last season, NHL fans were treated to a bumper crop of rookies. Six rookies scored 20 or more goals. Eight, including a defenceman, managed 40-plus points. Calder Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin finished 18th in NHL scoring with 33 goals and 52 assists while his rookie teammate, Jordan Staal, led the league with seven shorthanded goals. But only Paul Stastny of the Colorado Avalanche set an NHL rookie record. He managed to notch at least one point in 20 straight games, bettering the mark of 17 straight games set in 1993 by Teemu Selanne. That got PowerPlay thinking about some other rookie records.
